How I can help
Let's get started today, because tomorrow will never come.
Cardiovascular Fitness
It is well known that by improving your CV fitness you will reap numerous health benefits. Cardiovascular activity improves the circulation of oxygen-rich blood around your body, giving your muscles more energy, and improving the health of your heart and lungs. Many people notice improvements in their energy levels, mental state and overall wellbeing after they start to incorporate some CV training into their weekly routine.
The great thing about CV fitness training is that the more you do, the more enjoyable it becomes. Do it with a passionate enthusiast (me) and, who knows, you might catch the bug!
Strength & Conditioning
As we get older, strength and conditioning become ever more important. Flexibility, core strength and stability are fundamental to our posture and daily movement, and with improved quality of movement, we can improve our performance and reduce the chance of injury.
When training clients, our first aim is to establish a strong foundation of core stability and safe, correct movement patterns. Only then do we build up strength, power and endurance. If poor movement patterns are not corrected, and then you use them repetitively under load, it will ultimately lead to injury. This is one of the many reasons why having a Personal Trainer to check your form and get you moving correctly is so valuable.
Nutrition
Personal Trainers are rarely dieticians as well. This is a vocational profession that requires years of specific education and training. However, a good Personal Trainer will usually have a broad understanding of what constitutes a healthy diet and will be able to coach and motivate clients to adopt healthy eating choices and behaviours, and to navigate the ‘marketing minefields’ laid out by food corporations.
As a Certified Nutrition Coach (not dietician), I work with clients to set realistic and healthy nutritional goals, within my scope of practice. I guide, educate and motivate clients to maintain a healthy, balanced diet. I am also supported by a network of excellent dieticians and nutritionists to whom I can refer clients when required.
What’s the Best Diet?
The best diet is the one that works for YOU, and works FOREVER. I have no time for temporary, or ‘fad’ diets. The best diet is the one that achieves your personal health goals and that you are able to maintain forever. By making small, permanent changes to your diet (and indeed your whole lifestyle) you can make long lasting improvements. Your future self will thank you for it.
Practical Stress Resilience Coaching
This is an area in which I’m extremely interested and excited to work in. As your Personal Trainer, I believe it is my duty to care about the whole of you - not just your movement and exercise, but your entire health, wellbeing and happiness.
How we react to stress plays an enormous part in our overall wellbeing and happiness. Over extended time and intensity, stress can manifest in physical dysfunction and even disease. By making specific behavioural changes, we may be able to improve our physiology to the extent that we alter our course away from dysfunction, disease or ‘burnout’ and towards good health and contentment.
I am always happy to talk on the subject of stress resilience with clients while training. However, some clients benefit from specific stress resilience coaching. Please refer to my other business: Human Energy Optimisation, for further information.
