About Me

I’m a 47-year old mum to two awesome children (9 & 11 years old), and wife to an equally awesome and supportive husband.

I discovered a talent and passion for long distance running in my teens. In my 20s, I took up cycling and swimming, joined a triathlon club and began to compete – always just for fun. I also honed my strength and cardio fitness (and a gritty mindset!) during a few years in the Territorial Army.

Aside from endurance sports, I lead an active life and I’m willing to give anything a go. I am an experienced dinghy sailor and a fairly decent skier. I am competent in a kayak, a row-boat, and on a paddleboard, and I’ve tried my hand at kite-surfing too. I’m certainly no expert at that (actually, a complete novice) but, by keeping fit, strong and conditioned, I find I’m at a head start when faced with any such physical activity.

Strength and fitness, and the mindset that goes with it, give me so much happiness and confidence in my own life that I am literally bursting to help and motivate others to reap the same benefits. This is why I became a Personal Trainer.

Alongside exercising, parenting and socialising, I enjoy listening to inspiring podcasts and reading books about physiology and psychology. I can highly recommend Jake Humphrey & Prof Damian Hughes’ “High Performance Podcast”; it is full of wisdom and inspiring life lessons. And one of the latest books I read, “Black Box Thinking” by Matthew Syed, has certainly challenged my thinking and reminded me that failure paves the way to success.

Other recent reading material includes heavy academic texts on anatomy, physiology, nutrition, stress resilience, and so on… would you like a list?!
